Why work with a Professional Conference Organiser (PCO)? Why not just do it yourself?

Would I? Could I? Build a House?
DIY Approach – Why work with a Professional Conference Organiser (PCO)?
Why not just do it yourself?

I know I could probably build a house…. With A LOT of time, effort and learning’s on my behalf. I’m also aware that the house may be livable (just – four walls and a roof), but wouldn’t have unique features, modern building materials, up to date technology. I wouldn’t save any costs, as I wouldn’t know what I’m doing, I’d spend a lot of time researching and comparing building suppliers. Plus it would probably take me about 10 years, and I wouldn’t be able to do my own employed job at the same time.

But, I could oversee a building company and suppliers to build my dream home, on time and budget, while I still completed my own job.

In reality I wouldn’t build my own home…. This is an extreme comparison to managing your own conference. It’s achievable, but what is the cost in time and money (let alone mental health!).

Every single one of our clients post conference say, ‘We couldn’t have done this without you!’, but how do you explain your value before someone has used you.

Many people have successfully organised weddings and parties, but those attending aren’t paying to be there, and they love you (well, hopefully they do!) and understand if things are quite right, they are happy to pitch in to fix it.

A Professional Conference Organiser (PCO) has many years of experience, managing and executing complex conferences, including the elements of:

  • Planning and administration

  • Budget and financial management

  • Destination and venues

  • Programme and speakers

  • Call for abstracts

  • Digital and virtual conference solutions

  • Promotion, communication and marketing

  • Sponsorship and exhibition

  • Accommodation

  • Online registration processing

  • Delegate management

  • Social functions

  • Logistics

  • Supplier management

  • Onsite management

Just like a building company, with a finished house, a PCO takes pride in delivering a conference on time, within budget and exceeding everyone’s expectations.

We always welcome the opportunity to talk openly about what we do and the services we offer. Feel free to contact us, ask a question and have a coffee.
